Vidyut Jammwal on Hollywood Set Discipline During Street Fighter Shoot
Bharatmorning.com – Vidyut Jammwal says Hollywood sets are more disciplined than Bollywood sets, based on his experience filming the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Speaking at a Mumbai event organised by Paramount Pictures India, the actor discussed the punctuality, labour practices and coordination he observed while working on the international production.
Jammwal plays Dhalsim in the live-action adaptation of the popular fighting-game franchise. The role marks a major Hollywood project for the action star, who said the work culture on a large overseas set left a lasting impression on him.
Punctuality stands out on the Street Fighter set
According to Jammwal, the discipline of the cast and crew was more striking than the larger budgets he had heard about from friends working in Hollywood. He said hundreds of people followed the schedule closely during filming.
“There is a huge difference. I used to hear from my friends who are actors and knew about Hollywood that the budgets there were much higher. But I have seen the discipline here. For the first time, I have seen 300 people on a set following such discipline. There, no actor, whether it is 50 Cent, Jason Momoa or Cody Rhodes, is ever late. They simply don’t have a concept of arriving late.”
Vidyut Jammwal says Hollywood sets are more structured when it comes to call times and daily schedules. He noted that even a delay of a minute prompts producers to check whether a cast member is unwell or facing a problem.
Overtime pay and crew protections
The actor also highlighted the way technicians are compensated when filming runs beyond scheduled working hours. He said strict labour rules ensure that crew members receive additional pay for every minute of overtime.
“There is no such thing as being late. If someone is late by one minute, makers call them to know if they are not doing well. It’s a massive difference. Laws are so strict. If you are doing overtime, every technician gets extra money for every minute. Technicians wait to do overtime because they don’t think they will be betrayed.”
Jammwal said Indian productions do follow rules and legal requirements, but suggested that the industry can continue improving its systems for cast and crew. His remarks centred on trust, accountability and ensuring that technicians feel protected when they work extra hours.
Why Dhalsim is a personal role for Vidyut Jammwal
Vidyut Jammwal says Hollywood sets are more disciplined, but his connection to Street Fighter also comes from the character he plays. He has trained in Kalaripayattu since the age of three, giving him a strong personal link to the physicality and martial arts spirit associated with Dhalsim.
Known for action-driven roles, Jammwal brings years of martial arts training to the part. Dhalsim is among the best-known fighters in the game series, making the role an important addition to Jammwal’s career.
