A case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Sadar Kharar police station on August 5.
A separate case involved a red Mahindra Swaraj 744 tractor, registered as PB-27-M-7957. It was reported missing after being stolen on the night of September 7, and police registered a case under the same legal provision on September 10.
Arrests and Recoveries
DSP Kharar-1 Ishan Singla said the first arrest was made near Hanuman Mandir on Sahibajpur Road in Raikot, Ludhiana, where Shera was taken into custody. Information obtained during his questioning led the police team to Himanshu Kumar in Meerut.
Police said Himanshu admitted to involvement in tractor thefts and subsequently guided investigators to a location where four tractors and three trolleys were recovered.
Further questioning of Himanshu provided leads that resulted in the arrest of Sameer Ansari. Police recovered a digging machine and eight rolls of steel electrical wire from him.
The recovered items include machinery commonly used in agricultural and construction-related activity. Tractors and trolleys are essential working assets for many farmers and transport operators, so their theft can interrupt routine field work, goods movement and other daily operations.
