Isaac Wilson Named Colorado’s Starting Quarterback
Bharatmorning.com – Colorado has selected Isaac Wilson as its starting quarterback ahead of Saturday’s matchup with No. 12 Texas Tech. The Buffaloes made the change after an uneven offensive stretch under freshman Julian Lewis, giving the transfer quarterback a key chance to provide stability at an important stage of the season.
Wilson arrived in Boulder after beginning his college career at Utah, where he gained extensive experience as a true freshman. His résumé also includes a standout high school run in Draper, Utah, and deep football ties within his family.
Age, height and family background
Isaac Wilson grew up in Draper, Utah, and is 20 years old, nearing his 21st birthday. A 2024 high school graduate, he is listed at 6 feet tall.
His parents are Mike and Lisa Wilson. Mike Wilson played defensive tackle at the University of Utah during the 1990s, while Lisa Wilson is a social media influencer. The family also has connections to entrepreneur David Neeleman, the founder of JetBlue and Azul Airlines.
Wilson is one of six children. His brothers include Zach Wilson, an NFL quarterback with the New Orleans Saints, plus Josh and Micah Wilson, who both played linebacker at BYU. His sisters are Whitney and Sophie.
High school success at Corner Canyon
Before college, Wilson was one of Utah’s most productive high school quarterbacks at Corner Canyon High School in Draper. Over 41 varsity games, he threw for 8,757 yards and 94 touchdowns, with 27 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,068 yards and 18 scores.
His 2023 senior season helped Corner Canyon finish 13-1 and win the Class 6A state championship. In the title game, he accounted for 443 total yards and five touchdowns, capping a season in which he set a state record with 5,901 total yards.
That total featured 4,595 passing yards, 1,304 rushing yards and 62 touchdowns. His performance earned him the 2023 Gatorade Utah Football Player of the Year award, Deseret News Mr. Football recognition and MaxPreps Utah Player of the Year honors.
Utah statistics and transfer to Colorado
Isaac Wilson began his college career with the Utah Utes in 2024. He appeared in 10 games and made seven starts as a true freshman, including Utah’s win over No. 14 Oklahoma State. That result made him the first true freshman quarterback in program history to defeat an AP-ranked opponent.
At Utah, he completed 127 of 225 passes for 1,510 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The early playing time gave him meaningful experience against college competition before his move to Colorado in January 2026.
After initially appearing in relief for the Buffaloes, Wilson earned the starting role. His ability to contribute as both a passer and runner could give Colorado greater flexibility as it tries to find more consistency against Texas Tech.
The move puts a quarterback with prior college starting experience at the center of Colorado’s offense during a challenging matchup with a ranked opponent.
