Greater Noida West Resident Held After Lift Altercation With Security Guard

Bharatmorning.com – A parking disagreement inside a high-rise housing society in Greater Noida West escalated into a physical confrontation in a lift, leading to the arrest of a resident in his 30s. The incident involved a security guard in his 40s and occurred on Tuesday night at a residential society in Sector 1, police said on Thursday.

The matter has been registered at Bisrakh police station. Officials said the resident was arrested on Wednesday after the guard submitted a complaint alleging assault.

Dispute Began Over Parking Location

The confrontation started after the resident allegedly parked his car in an area where parking was not permitted near his high-rise tower. The guard objected and asked him to move the vehicle to the society’s designated parking space.

“As the resident parked his car in a no-parking zone near his high-rise tower inside the society, the security guard protested and asked him to park the vehicle at the designated place,” said Ranjeet Singh, station house officer, Bisrakh police station.

Parking rules in large residential complexes are generally intended to keep internal roads, access routes and common spaces usable for residents, visitors and emergency movement. In this case, the disagreement did not end after the guard raised the issue near the tower.

Officials said the resident allegedly declined to relocate the car and entered the lift to go to his flat. The guard followed him, continuing to request that the vehicle be shifted. The situation allegedly turned violent when the guard attempted to contact the society management over the parking dispute.

Video Shows Fight Inside Lift

A video of the episode shows a man striking the security guard while the guard appears to be trying to make a phone call inside the lift. The guard can be seen protesting as the man allegedly hits him repeatedly.

A woman also appears in the footage and attempts to step in during the argument. Police identified her as the suspect’s wife. The recording further shows that the guard later assaulted the resident during the confrontation.

Other security personnel and members of the society management eventually intervened to calm the situation. The altercation highlights how routine disputes within apartment complexes can quickly become more serious when arguments continue in confined common areas such as lifts, corridors or parking zones.

Non-Cognizable Case Registered

Police registered a non-cognizable report, or NCR, for assault under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after receiving the guard’s complaint. The resident was taken into custody, while the inquiry into the incident remains underway.

An NCR records information relating to a non-cognizable offence, where police ordinarily require further legal procedure before taking certain investigative steps. The registration in this case ensures that the complaint and the events described by those involved are formally recorded.

Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, including the sequence of events seen in the lift video and the roles of everyone involved. The footage, the guard’s complaint and statements from people present at the society may help establish how the disagreement developed from the initial parking objection.

Security Staff and Residents Share Common Responsibilities

Security guards are often responsible for enforcing day-to-day society rules, including directions related to vehicle movement and restricted parking areas. Their role can place them at the centre of disagreements when residents object to instructions concerning common spaces.

For residents, society management committees and security teams, such incidents underline the importance of reporting disputes through established channels instead of allowing a verbal disagreement to become personal. A parking complaint can be raised with management, while security staff can document the issue and seek assistance from supervisors when a resident refuses to comply.

The Greater Noida West case remains under investigation. Police have not indicated any final finding on the full sequence of the altercation, and further action will depend on the ongoing inquiry.
