Sanjay Raut Predicts Modi Government’s Fall Amid Protest Crackdown Claims

Bharatmorning.com – Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has said he believes the Narendra Modi-led Union government is nearing its end, claiming that an alternative administration could take shape at the Centre by March or April next year. Speaking to journalists in Pune on Saturday, Raut linked his prediction to what he described as growing public opposition and a heavy security response in Delhi.

“The beginning of the end of the Union government has started. It has panicked in the face of huge public dissent and will cease to exist by April next year. An alternate government would be formed at the Centre,” Raut said.

His remarks came as members and supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party, or CJP, sought to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Raut criticised the security restrictions imposed in the national capital, alleging that authorities had acted to prevent protesters, particularly young people and members of different organisations, from assembling.

Questions Raised Over Delhi Security Measures

Raut alleged that approximately 4.5 lakh Border Security Force personnel had been moved from Jammu & Kashmir and deployed extensively across Delhi. He said the deployment was intended to stop people from joining demonstrations directed at the government.

“Around 4.5 lakh Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been brought in from Jammu & Kashmir and heavily deployed across Delhi to block youth and members of various organisations from gathering for protests against the government. But this is a people’s protest, and you cannot silence the voice of the people,” he said.

The Sena (UBT) leader also questioned the restrictions affecting travel into Delhi. He claimed that roads approaching the capital had been closed, trains headed to Delhi from several parts of the country had been stopped, and commercial flights had been diverted. In his view, those steps reflected concern within the government over the scale of public anger.

“The government must explain why roads leading to Delhi were sealed and several Delhi bound trains from various parts of the country were stopped and commercial flights diverted. This is an undemocratic government. Both Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah have become fearful following the revolt by the country’s people,” Raut claimed.

His statements were political allegations made during a period of heightened tensions around the planned protest. The events placed attention on both the right to demonstrate and the responsibility of police and security agencies to preserve public order in crowded urban areas. Restrictions around transport hubs, roads and public gathering points can have consequences beyond protest participants, affecting commuters, travellers and local businesses.

Demand for Chief Election Commissioner’s Resignation

When asked about the immediate demand emerging from the protests, Raut said people wanted Gyanesh Kumar to resign without delay. The call centred on the protesters’ objections to the chief election commissioner’s role and their stated concerns over the integrity of elections.

The phrase “vote chori”, meaning vote theft, featured prominently in the demonstrations. Protesters in Pune said they would not accept any alleged attempt at electoral wrongdoing. The issue underlined the political significance attached to public confidence in the election process, particularly when accusations over voting and electoral administration become part of wider protests against the Union government.

Earlier on Saturday, CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke said he and his associates were being detained by police while getting off a Mumbai-to-Delhi flight at Delhi airport. Dipke posted a video on Instagram describing the incident as it unfolded. The CJP also said content creator Dhruv Rathee had been detained.

“The Dictator is TERRIFIED of young people who question its wrongdoings and refuse to stay silent,” the CJP said in its statement on Rathee’s alleged detention.

These claims added to the wider narrative of a protest movement seeking to bring together activists, students, volunteers and online voices. Social media posts can rapidly expand the visibility of such events, especially when travellers or participants describe interactions with police in real time. At the same time, individual claims made online often become part of an evolving political dispute involving competing interpretations of security measures and protest activity.

Pune Students and Volunteers Taken Into Custody

In Pune, city police detained about 80 CJP students and volunteers near Lal Mahal on Saturday afternoon. The group had gathered to protest against the Union government and to press for Kumar’s resignation. Police maintained a substantial presence in the area to manage the situation and ensure law and order.

Additional Police Commissioner Rajesh Bansode said those detained were taken to Cantonment Police Station. They were released a few hours later. The detentions highlighted how the protest activity extended beyond Delhi, with Pune becoming another location where participants sought to express their demands publicly.

Lal Mahal is a prominent public location in Pune, making it a visible site for political activity and demonstrations. Police deployments at such locations are generally intended to prevent confrontations, protect public movement and manage large gatherings. For the protesters, however, the detention of students and volunteers became part of their criticism of the response to dissent.

Raut’s forecast of a government collapse remains a political assertion, but his comments brought together several strands of the day’s events: the planned Delhi protest, allegations of detentions and travel disruption, calls for Gyanesh Kumar to step down, and the police action in Pune. The coming months are likely to keep these issues at the centre of political debate as opposition leaders and protest groups continue to challenge the Union government’s handling of public dissent.
