Sia had been travelling with fellow riders on Sunday when the confrontation began. She said the Ciaz began following her closely on Golf Course Road and that she asked its driver to maintain a safe distance.
“He had started chasing me on the Golf Course Road. I asked him to drive while maintaining distance. He kept making gestures ordering me to stop my bike,” she said in the video.
She also said the driver seemed intoxicated. A friend attempted to shield her during the ride, but she said the car ultimately hit her motorcycle.
“My friend tried to cover during the ride…but at the end it rammed me,” she said.
The recordings appear to show the Ciaz swerving into the rider’s path before making contact with the bike. Sia falls and slides along the road, while the motorcycle skids for almost 100 metres. She avoided a potentially more serious collision because no vehicle was immediately behind her after the crash.
One of the other riders followed the car and caught up with it at a traffic signal, but the driver left before he could be stopped. Sia later shared the vehicle registration number online.
Police register case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Abhilaksh Joshi, ACP headquarters, said the police social media cell saw the video and initiated action. Officers initially tried to reach Sia, but after receiving no response, a first information report was registered at Sector 56 police station.
The case invokes Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to conduct that endangers the life or personal safety of others, and Section 281, which concerns rash driving. Police said further and stricter legal provisions could be added once the woman provides a written complaint setting out the details of the incident.
Investigators have identified the suspected driver as Kalyan Bainsla, described by police as a Palwal gym owner and former kabaddi player. Two other people were also in the Ciaz at the time, police said. Bainsla had not been apprehended when the information was made public.
The car is registered in Palwal and belongs to an Army personnel currently posted in Assam. Police said the owner’s friend had taken the vehicle two days before the incident, and that Bainsla had borrowed it from that friend.
Car owner says he was unaware of crash
The vehicle owner, Manish, said he learned of the episode only after the video circulated widely and police contacted him. He said Bainsla, his friend, had been driving the car.
“My friend Kalyan Bainsla, who runs a gym in Palwal, was driving my car. I was completely unaware about any such accident,” Manish said.
Manish added that he tried to contact Bainsla after learning about the matter but did not receive a response.
Police said Sia is a Delhi resident who was returning from an early ride with friends. She has asked authorities not to publicly disclose her identity or personal details.
Concern over safety on busy city roads
After posting the footage, Sia wrote that the incident had made her feel unsafe while travelling on Gurugram roads. She said people willing to hit someone and flee appeared unafraid of the consequences. The post was deleted a few hours later after it went viral and police began action.

A motorcycle rider has little physical protection in a collision, and even a brief loss of control can result in a serious fall.
